Farjana’s journey in community and cultural life began in early childhood at age four with the Bangladesh Shishu Academy. She trained in dance, singing, drama, and recitation at the Shilpakala Academy, earning multiple national awards, including the prestigious Notun Kuri Award from the former Prime Minister.

A UK-licensed physician and Scottish civil servant, Farjana has always blended her professional dedication with community spirit. During medical school, she organized numerous cultural events and health-related charities, including relief efforts for Rohingya refugees. After completing her MBBS, she was awarded a Commonwealth Scholarship to pursue a Master’s in Public Health from a renowned UK university, eventually settling in Glasgow when her husband pursued his PhD.

Farjana lives in Glasgow with her husband, Arshad, a Senior Power System Engineer within the civil service, and their 7-year-old dancing diva, Alezaa.

As active civil service officers and Commonwealth Alumni, Farjana and her husband were honored to attend King Charles’s last year Summer Garden Party, a cherished memory for them both.
